Wednesday night at home

I finally made it through the Medical Terminology class and I passed with a C, am I glad for that.  That class was not Easy at all.  I look forward to going to my next two classes here in the end of Jan 2011.  Basic Anatomy and Intro to Health Records.  I am back at work now, since Oct 4th 2010.  Where I was working(they laid me off), had called me back for a few months here.  I enjoy working there, it gives me more experience in the insurance world.  I also look forward to getting some quilting,knitting,crocheting, house cleaning and some other things done here in the next few weeks.  I only have a few weeks here because soon I will be back in school at night and studying.  Well, time to hit the hay here, or get to bed because some of us have to go to work tomorrow not like others(like son-off from school until Jan 3rd,2011 and husband who took off the time that the son has off.)

Friday Afternoon

Ok, I am suppose to be studying, well I am not.  I am excited that I am going to the Madison Quilt Show in Madison, WI tomorrow 9-11-2010.  Meeting up with another quilter to ride with.  Tomorrow is also Patriotic Day.  It has been 9 years since our great nation was attacked.  I will have my moment of silence on my way to the quilt show.  Please take a moment of silence.  I am hoping that I will do good in Medical Terminology.  We will see.

Last Day of Summer Vacation(going back to school tomorrow)

Ok, wow, I can't believe it, it is that time again, the yellow school buses going pass the house:), got to love it:), no just kidding.  yep, it is that time.  Our son starts 2nd grade tomorrow.  Let's see how have I been since my last post? well, we were on vacation for another week, just loved that(have not had 2 weeks of vacation since never, in one summer). I finally got to go quilting on a friday night and got something done, just loved that.  Oh yeah, went school clothes shopping for our son.  I started school last night.  We took our son's school supplies to school to meet his teacher and where his class was yesterday before I had to go to class.  Today I had a job interview, wow, it has been like 3 yrs since I had a job interview.  Like I said, tomorrow our son is on the yellow school bus.  I can have my wednesday's back, that is I can go and quilt at the shop for a few hours.  Before you know it, it will be fall and then winter.  Well, time to get back into what ever I was doing, oh yeah, nothing:).  I will be spending the day with our son.  His last day with Mom, at McDonald's.  Lunch that is:).

Friday Night Sew

ok, here it is Friday Night Sew.  I started working on my many,many triangles(2-1/2) size.  I think I started like around 6:45pm or so? I stopped around 7:30pm, needed to get some things done around the house.  I will be going back to them around 9pm and staying up until I get tired.  Here are a few pictures of them.  I have like way over 600 2-1/2 in triangles.

First meeting with the Milwaukee/Madison Modern Quilt Guild

Ok, I finally made it to a meeting, like after 3 mnths:)  I enjoy meeting some of the members.  I learned how to hand applique:).  I was able to get my binding sewn and pressed for our son's green/brown quilt.  I just need to get some batting(most likely at JoAnn's) and then I have to get the backing fabric for it? I have no idea which color I am going with on the backing.  Green, Brown? So many choices:) I also worked on my brother's quilt for some of the time.  I enjoy the Mill House Quilt Shop.  I will be going back there some day, even though it is like 1-1/2 or less away from my house but it is a straight shot on Hwy-94 West. 
Ok, need to take a shower here and get some house work done as well as some quilting:)

Mid Summer Time

Ok, this is mid summer time here in WI.  We were on vacation with our family and my husband's parents.  We went up to our cabin.  Just loved it.  Nice weather finally.  Ok, we are back at home(came back this past weekend) and now it is Monday.  Time to get back in the swing of things.  Before I left for vacation, I received a gift card from my favorite quilt shop(the patched works) so yesterday on sunday I went there and picked up 2 packs of 1/8th fabric(from the 30's stuff), I paid for my Syliva Bridal Sampler class that I missed due to I was on vacation. Also I paid for my next one as well.  Ok, now I am going to try and figure out what I am going to make with my new fabric, oh wait, I need to put that on hold, I need to finish up my already unfinished projects.

Wednesday night

Ok, this is mid-week, hubby wants to plant some flower bulbs, so instead of quilting, or knitting, or crocheting, I go out and help him.  bugs I hate sooo much!!!! starting to make a list of stuff I need to get done, and I mean get done.  like the quilts, the crocheting items either I have started or put away with what I wanted to make.  that also goes for the knitting items as well.  I have started alot of projects in the crochet/knitting area:)  I must get organized and now:) I need to make room for my fabric. 
Ok, time to get off of the computer and started making my list.

Dr Appt and having no energy

Ok, since my last post, I have gone to the dr's and found out that we need alot of blood work done here:) not a problem to me.  As far as the friday night quilting.  I got some quilting done, but not a quilt top:( but since I went there that night, I was able to get 15 squares of my brother's quilt done.  not the whole square but part of them.  I still don't have any energy:) but I am sure all of my blood work will tell me something, hoping:)

I need energy NOW!!!!!!

ok, I have alot of projects in the making, but I have no energy.  we will be going on vacation soon, don't feel like it. I don't feel like doing anything, just sleeping, I am tired all of the time, no energy.  I went to the dentist yesterday and the lady who cleans my teeth wanted to know if I had diabetics, I told her I don't think so, not that I know much of my family's health history.  She told me to go and see my dr and have them do some blood work, well, I made the call.  I go next tuesday to see my dr.  I go to my crafting room and just look at stuff.  I hope this feeling goes away soon.  I am going to the quilt shop friday night for a sewing/laughing night out:).  I am hoping to get one of the many quilts done by then:).
I am going to see what my little boy is making out of legos,
until the next time I quilt.

Friday June 11th 2010

Ok, our little boy just got out of 1st grade, oh boy, how time does fly by.  I can remember when I just gave birth to him:).  I can't believe that he is out of 1st grade already.  We went out to lunch(he picked the place) which was Subway:) then we had errands to run, got them all out of the way.  Came home, ate supper.  Called grandma/grandpa and found out that they were coming up to see us for the weekend:) I can clean my house like in 3 hrs flat:).  Was going to get some quilting done but I had to clean instead:).  I was reading other bloggers and got on a bandwagon of this double hour glass quilt.  I am hooked.  another quilt top that I will be starting here this summer.  Just the other day, I found out that my local quilt shop is going to be doing another club.  A friendship triangle swap.  this will happen in July at the shop(the patched works).  I have no idea what I am going to do with our son this summer:) I can't get alot of quilting/knitting/crocheting done with him. 
We will just find out what I can get done this summer as far as quilting.  There is soooo many ideas out there that I want to do.  I am going to make a list and start from the top to the bottom of what quilts I want to get done:).

this picture is my son's 2nd quilt top.  It is with greens and browns.  the greens I bought when I went to my first Rosemont International Quilt Fest, I just love the fest. Now I just need to figure out how to do more then one picture at a time.

Thursday night

hello all, just wanted to say that I have been working on my final project for school. I am taking Medical Coding Specialist at WCTC in Pewaukee. I am doing my final project. It has been like 25+ years since I was in school doing homework:).
As far as my quilting, well, I took my younger brother to the quilt shop yesterday and told him to pick out like 16 different fabric, well, the pattern that I was going to make him well, he total changed my plans and now I will be doing a 20-something quilt for him. He has like black/grey flames,cars,footballs,checkerboard, all kinds of fabric. blew my mind and plans right out the window. I don't mind, I am making him a quilt with the fabric he picked out. I will post the fabric on my site here soon.
I also have been doing thangles, well, the finish size is 2 inches, I have no pattern for that yet. I am also doing 1/2 triangles with some charm packs that I had bought. I don't have a pattern for that either. I think I just like cutting up the fabric and then making or finding a pattern for it.:)
My husband's grandmother who is 94 yrs old showed me how she connects her granny squares together. I love the way she does it:) that was over Easter weekend.
well, time to get the little one doing his homework, me taking a shower and all of us hitting the bed.

New craft table

ok, I got it, I just love it. my craft table. I know I have had it for a month or so now, but I have been busy quilting and doing homework for school. ok, all of you that told me that I should not get this table because it will be filled up quickly, you are alllll right, it is filled. I will take some pics here and post them. I have almost finished my son's 2nd quilt. I just need to put the 2-borders and binding on and then I am going to give quilting a try on my machine. I have started another quilt, it is with thangles. 2-inch finished size. also I went to the International Quilt Fest in Rosemont, Ill and that was just great. I got 5-yards of fabric(kit) with 4 different patterns. just love it. I can make 4 different twin size quilts. while I was there, I just kept seeing these small squares,triangles(about 1-inch in size). well, I got the 1-inch finished size thangles and will be making another quilt with those. When I went to my local quilt shop, I got a charm pack and started making 1/2-triangles, I put them together, and then I realized that I need more, so I went back to the shop and got another charm pack. I still don't know what kind of quilt the charm pack fabric will be yet. Ok, I have that bug, that quilting bug or should I say that I start a project and don't finish it but start another one bug:) I am going to be doing a quilt for my brother. He is going to pick out the fabrics(all 15 of them). I am going to be doing a quilt like the jewel box-similar to that. Some of my quilting friends are at retreat now, I told them that I am going with them next year. I can't wait.
Ok, now time to go and start something, just don't know what yet, I think it will be quilting:)

craft table finally

ok here is the deal, you do your duties at soccer and you can have the $100.00 check. Boy did I do that? sure did. That was like a deposit and when I got my duties done, I got the check back. I finally got my 8 ft craft table. I love it! I have some of my quilting stuff on it but I still need to get the room cleaned up. I have boxes and boxes of yarn. I started going through some of the boxes and all of the small balls of yarn, I put them together in a yarn cake:). I am going to start as of today make 12-rounds of granny squares. I don't care if they are mixed colors or not. I am going to try and make 2 granny squares a day/night:) hopefully. ok now I need to finish the dishes and finish up my first granny square.

How I Got Started Quilting

What can I say, I am HOOKED:) I love quilting. I also knit and crochet. I have been knitting and crocheting for like 25 + years now. I am getting tired of knitting and crocheting. How I got started quilting. Here is my story.
I am the 3rd child in my family, my older sister,my older brother,me and then my younger brother. Well, one day at work, my younger brother called me and told me that my older brother was at the hospital the night before, he had fallen down a flight of stairs. I went to the hospital and saw my older brother hooked up to all of those machines. I knew that this was not good. It was not. My older sister lives about 3-1/2 hours away from us, I called her and told her about our brother. She came down to be with us. We talked with the doctors and they said this is not good, our brother would either(most likely) be on a breathing machine and most likely not know us for the rest of his life. Our brother was going to be a vegetable for the rest of his life. We did not want that and neither did he. So, we had to make a decision. It is the most difficult thing anyone has to do. So, when the day came, that morning, I remember exactly how the hospital room was. We(my sister,me and our younger brother) went to go and talk and have some lunch(none of us were hungry but we had to eat something). When we came back, we talked with the doctors again and told them that we have decided to let our brother go to heaven to be with our mom and dad. There was a quilt at the end of his bed. When I saw that, I felt like someone just kicked me in my chest. I knew then, that is what I wanted to do as a craft. When I saw that, I lifted a corner, and there was a little saying(I can't remember what it said) but I started to cry, my sister had asked me why I was crying, I told her, this quilt was not here when left this morning. This is my new craft, quilting. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!! That quilt was giving to my son. I wanted to give back to the community, like do charity quilts for the sick, homeless, the kids, etc. I guess you can say that my older brother got me started. Well, the story goes on, I was at work and a friend there also quilts. She told me about the International Quilt Fest in Illinois, I told her, I would like to go with her. So we hopped on a bus and away we went. When we got there, WOW, WOW,WOW I could not believe all of those beautiful quilts. It got worst when I saw all of those vendors and all of that fabric, WOW. I had never sewn before, nor did I even own a sewing machine. So I told my husband about all of this(with my brother and all) I told him that I wanted a sewing machine, so he told me to find out what it takes to get started. So on my little marry way I went. I went to the sewing machine store, got one. Then I went to a local fabric shop(which I love) and signed up for a beginners class on quilting. It has been history since then. I have made a sampler quilt(the one from the class) for our son. I started another greens/tans/browns quilt for our son. I have signed up for the Sylvia's Bridal Sampler which will take like 3 yrs and I would like to make a wall hanging quilt for our cabin upnorth as well as one for our bed. I also have made alot of new friends, loving people who have been quilting for years and years and their quilts are just so beautiful. I have learned alot since I took that beginners class on quilting. Now, away I go, to quilt.
